Time for you to claim a space all your own. Time to turn your garage into your own private oasis, a Man Cave with all the bells and whistles – not to mention a beautiful epoxy garage flooring finish as well. Now that you’ve made this monumental decision, now what? Where do you go from here? Relax, there’s nothing to worry about, just take it one step at a time and soon, you’ll be kicking back with a cold drink in front of the game in your very own space. ## Step 1: Empty Chances are, if you’re like most people, right now your garage is a catch-all dumping ground for anything and everything that doesn’t fit in the house. If you’re lucky, you might even have a car in there! The first thing you need to do to get the space ready is to empty it out completely. Find a storage locker, purge, donate things to charity… whatever it takes to get it out of your way. ## Step 2: Clean and Prep Garages are dirty, no doubt about it. Before you can do any construction or planning, be sure to clean everything. Get a good degreaser to clean the floors and walls. This is also a good time to make any repairs you need to the space. Patch walls to make way for paint and repair windows. Fixing any major cracks in the floor helps to keep things safe and makes a level base for your epoxy garage flooring application. This is also a good time to decide how you will use the space. Will you convert all of it to a Man Cave, or just some of it? Maybe you would still like to use half of it as a place to work on cars or as a wood shop. If not, do you leave the garage door functional or take it out? Consider the heating situation at this time too. If you live in colder climates, adding a central or space heating source is a must if you don’t want to be enjoying that game in a parka. Conversely, summertime can bring the heat, so an AC unit or some good fans are in order too. ## Step 4: Walls and Flooring You may not be looking to make your space “beautiful” in the girlie kind of way, but you do want it to look good and be durable, especially the floor. Make some decor decisions like what color epoxy garage flooring you want to get and then pick paint colors to coordinate with it. A good TV for sure, and this might be your most expensive purchase. Next comes that comfy seat to enjoy the game from. Look for oversized leather couches or recliners to kick back and relax in. Snacks are a must, of course, so consider getting your own refrigerator or even a complete bar setup. A microwave is a nice addition as well. Besides watching the game, consider other fun items that the space allows; just be careful not to crowd them in to make the area cluttered looking. A pool table is a great way to bond with friends, as is a foosball table. A dartboard on the wall lets you practice your aim anytime you want. No matter how much space you have to allocate to it, your Man Cave should be a reflection of your personality and the things you hold most dear.
